In August 2012 we got together and founded the Ikaria Friends. Since then, many people from different countries have come forward and donated money for our heating oil for schools campaign. We were able to distribute a total of €6,000 to the schools, keep around 240 children warm in three different school buildings and contribute part of the heating costs incurred. We would like to thank all donors very much!!
Ikaria has retained its independence and hope continues to arise through decentralized actions and ideas. However, the economic situation has continued to worsen and 56% of young people cannot find work. The incredible inflation, the collapse of the economy and the rising tax costs are causing everyone a lot of trouble. The state’s financial cuts primarily affect the education and healthcare systems. That’s why we will continue to collect for the schools, there is a lack of material everywhere! However, we are now a little short on donations and we ask you to remain loyal to us and continue the campaign so that we have a few euros available again in the winter.
We’re staying tuned and looking forward to the second year of supporting Ikaria!!!
