Villas, Holiday homes and Bungalows
There are various reasons to prefer a holiday apartment or even an entire holiday home to a hotel room.
Here they are often called “villas” by their owners. They are usually two-story holiday homes with several separate bedrooms, living and kitchen areas, in contrast to apartments or studios where everything is housed in one room. A real home. And of course they have a beautiful veranda, garden, and some even have a small private beach. They are ideal for a romantic holiday for two, for honeymooners, families with children, sometimes even with a dog, for young people who want to share the costs, or simply for idealists and connoisseurs.
I did a little research. It’s not that easy to track down the categories and tell them apart! I have filtered out various suggestions for you: from rustic stone cottages to modern holiday cottages. Something for every taste, right by the sea with a secluded little private beach, in the hinterland in the middle of the pine trees and close to the village, I tried to meet all requirements, because there are really many reasons for a holiday home…
Lots of space and peace
Some like it big. You are looking for peace and quiet and just want to treat yourself to the perfect vacation. Hotels and guesthouses are rather small and you can’t really relax like you would in your own apartment or holiday home.
“Just no classic hotels with a breakfast hall, reception and rows of balconies. Door open, door closed, all night long. Giggling guests stomp drunkenly through the hallway. Horrible!”
You like to have enough space, spread out comfortably with all the odds and ends, like it to be comfortable and ideally feel at home even on vacation.
Honeymoon
Spend an unforgettable, romantic and dignified holiday for two. Wedding dreams come true! The perfect start to a new life as husband and wife! An unforgettable holiday experience that you will rave about for years to come.
Family holiday
You’re bringing your whole family with you. Vacation with children. Ideal! The children can make noise, have fun outside and you can comfortably read a book on the lounger in your own “home”.
Inexpensive with friends
You would rather share an apartment than book several rooms. By the way, it often comes much cheaper. Many students do it that way. Low budget with lots of fun.
Vacation with four-legged friends
Yes, in some places you can even bring your pet dog with you. However, prior agreement is essential.
Here is my top list, which can of course be expanded: If you have a tip for us, great, write it in the comments below.
As always, the order is random and non-judgmental!
Toxotis Villas in Armenistis
“Imagine you are lying relaxed by the pool or on your terrace, you are looking at the reflecting Aegean Sea or at the small lighthouse that guides the fishing boats in the dark, you are enjoying an excellent wine from Ikaria and you are forgetting your everyday life, the stress of the last few months and the book you actually wanted to read…”
Toxotis Villas is a wonderful complex right by the sea, just outside Armenistis. If you are looking for peace and a special atmosphere for your holiday, this is the place for you! Various smaller buildings line the romantic outdoor pool with sea views. The apartments are very well maintained, individually furnished and rich in detail. They are spacious, some have two floors and are tastefully furnished in a Mediterranean style. The rooms and the entire complex are very well maintained and a pleasant feeling of luxury inevitably spreads. The pool area is an absolute dream. A feeling of relaxation and recovery comes over you immediately. Enjoy the sunset on the comfortable loungers. Or look at the starry sky with a glass of wine under the full moon. Sounds cheesy, but that’s how it is…
Olivia Villas in Raches
Olivia Villas was completed in 2016 in the icariotic architectural style. It is located in the middle of an olive grove in the village of Agios Dimitrios in Raches with a view of the village center and the sea in the background. The village offers shopping, tavern, bakery. Despite it. A rental car would be an advantage. Of course, it is also the perfect starting point for great hikes or bike rides in the hinterland. It is 5 minutes to the main town of Christos and 15 minutes to the beach. There are 2 deluxe apartments of 45sqm for up to 4 people and a maisonette of 120sqm for up to 5 people. Free WiFi and private parking are available.
Aria Monte Villas in Raches
If you love the atmosphere of the hinterland and like to mingle with the Greeks, then this is just the thing for you. Aria Monte Villas comprises four independent villas in the Raches area. They are surrounded by greenery and have a wonderful outdoor terrace and garden. Wi-Fi and private parking are available free of charge. All villas have a dining area, a seating area with a sofa bed, 1 bedroom, a bathroom with a bathtub and a balcony or terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped, even hairdryer, shampoo, towels are provided. So all you need to bring is your clothes and swimming trunks. The area is ideal for hiking and cycling. But you definitely need a rental car or motorcycle to be mobile. Armenistis and the nearest beach are 7 km away.
Anemoessa Villas Near the airport
Four stylish 95sqm, two-story stone houses very close to the beach. A whole house for you. Tasteful architecture in the picturesque Ikaria style on the outside, modern and freshly furnished on the inside. During construction, attention was paid to using materials that were as natural as possible. Lots of wood, exquisite ceramic tiles, Cocomat mattresses. Everything at its finest. A local concierge ensures everything is perfect.
The small village of Faros, 10 minutes from the famous thermal springs and 15 minutes from the capital Agios Kyrikos. A popular excursion destination is the beach of Agios Georgios, the chapel of Onufrios, the acropolis of Katafigi. Faros offers everything you need: coffees, taverns, bar, supermarket and a wonderful beach with views of the neighboring islands of Fournoi and Samos. A great starting point for many hikes. Faros is only 5 minutes from the airport. Anemoessa offers a shuttle from/to the airport for its guests.
Villa Kionio
Kionio is a small, dreamy settlement in the northeastern tip of Ikaria, near the village of Perdiki. It’s not far from the airport. A renovated traditional stone house just for you and your family/friends, with a small private beach in the middle of nowhere. You rented a dreamy little house and found a home! The house has 7 bedrooms, yes you read that right, so it can accommodate 14 people. Kitchen with coffee machine and all the trimmings, a large living room and a beautiful garden with sea views. Free Wi-Fi, parking, and there’s even a Jacuzzi whirlpool. Kionio is 6km from the thermal springs. A popular excursion destination is the beach of Agios Georgios, the chapel of Onufrios, the acropolis of Katafigi and the capital Agios Kyrikos. Everything easily accessible by car.
Pyrgos Villas in Agios Kyrikos
The Pyrgos Villas are located in the capital of Ikaria, close to the main port of Agios Kirikos. The hotel complex features inviting villas with sea views, a refreshing pool, gardens and a large sun terrace. There is a 40sqm deluxe villa with 3 single beds and a family suite for 4 people. The traditional-style stone house offers Wi-Fi and parking. Several narrow stone paths lead to the central pool and gardens. You have a great view of Agios Kyrikos, the mountains and the sea. Surrounded by olive trees and natural vegetation, you can really switch off here and then throw yourself into the village life of Agios Kyrikos in the evening. A car or scooter is definitely an advantage here, as popular excursion destinations such as the beach of Agios Georgios, the chapel of Onufrios and the Acropolis of Katafigi in the surrounding area are too far to reach on foot.
