Donation account manager for Switzerland
Oskar has been there since June 2012
I have known Greece for over 40 years and am a total fan. I am particularly fond of the islands in the Aegean. Through dancing I came across Ursula in Ikaria. I spent my first dancing vacation in 2010 and since then I’ve been completely fascinated by ‘my favorite island’. I travel there several times every year. Ursula was initially skeptical about my idea of two dance weeks – one in spring and one in autumn. We met in St. Gallen in 2011 and discussed it together and introduced it. When I was in Ikaria in 2012, I found out that Selina’s school class couldn’t go on their graduation trip to Crete, so I decided to donate something. Because of this, I was invited to a party in Ikaria at the end of the year, which I gratefully accepted. An unforgettable experience for me!! (see my report: Oskar and the graduating class)
On the occasion of this festival I learned about the ‘heating oil problem’ and then I realized how good we had it in Switzerland. I got down to business, i.e. we discussed once again how what should happen. That was the beginning of the ‘Friends of Ikaria‘. I opened a donation account in Switzerland and so we were able to support the schools in Ikaria. So I (everyone) can give something back to ‘my dear Greeks‘ out of solidarity.
