I can recommend Evon’s Rooms for people who like it a little quieter. Quieter than Ikaria’s so-called “tourist centers” such as Armenistis, Raches, Evdylos or Agios. I always stay with him when I’m traveling on the south side of Ikaria. His guesthouse is 1km from the airport, which is very convenient if you have to catch the early flight.
Evon`s Rooms is a pretty, small guesthouse and offers various options, from a double room in the shady garden to a superior family apartment over two floors. Pets are allowed on request. Evon’s is explicitly gay-friendly, which is unfortunately still not a given everywhere. Evon’s rooms are equipped with everything you need. They have air conditioning and small kitchenettes. It’s really difficult to decide whether you should prefer the sea view of the upper rooms to the shady, flowering gardens of the lower ones.
Evon’s has a small coffee shop run by a professional chef. It is located on the second row of houses, or say 50m from the idyllic beach of Faros. You can really relax here! Everything is within walking distance. The beach, the cozy taverns where you sit right by the water. The small village supermarket is right next door, and as I said, it’s only five minutes by car or taxi to the airport. If he has time, Evon will drive you there himself.
Evon is the owner and an absolute jack of all trades. He is very helpful and has an organizational talent. He is present around the clock in the hotel’s own small coffee shop, cooking traditional local delicacies for his guests, serving up his own jams, or spontaneously organizing Loukoumades evenings… his hospitality is incredible!
But he also takes care of all the other little needs and worries of his protégés. You will always find an open ear with him! Evon has icariotic roots but grew up in Australia and speaks fluent English. Since he is just as in love with Ikaria as I am, he travels a lot and is always looking for new special places, people and excursions. It may well happen that he simply spontaneously takes you on a tour like this.

There are many worthwhile excursion destinations nearby, such as the Acropolis of Katafigi, the thermal springs, the picturesque chapel of Onufrios, or the beach of Ag. Georgios.
By the way: You can buy Evon’s Rooms!
Not because the owner has become bankrupt or in debt, quite the opposite! He is a young, dynamic man, creative and full of ideas, who simply has other plans for his future.
Insert the key and off you go! If you finally want to live out your dream of owning your own small hotel in the Aegean. Evon’s has all the necessary papers and permits. So you don’t have to think about it for long. Evon’s has had its regular customers since 2004 and will continue its operations seamlessly with the new owner. If you are interested, write to me.
