Ikaria is located in the southeastern Aegean, near the coast of Asia Minor, and through its isolation has retained its original character, its leisurely rhythm and its unique, untouched nature! The slow, oriental rhythm of life of the inhabitants of Ikaria is legendary! Just like the Blue Zones<\/a> – that means the above-average age and longevity of the residents. In Greece, maybe even around the world!<\/p>\n

Located between the Cyclades, the northern Aegean, the Dodecanese and Asia Minor, their way of life, music and dances were influenced by all these regions. The residents have a strong ability to be content with very little and to celebrate life despite all its hardships. Ikaria is known for its festive everyday life. The local dance festivals<\/a>, which are still alive customs and therefore very authentic, are celebrated together by all generations and are still the center of cultural events in Ikaria today. In ancient times, Ikaria was called “Oinoi”…island of wine…! Even today, the grape harvest<\/a> and the production of Pramnio Oino – the Pramnian wine – takes place in the same way as in ancient times. A festival of the wine god Dionysus . According to the myth, Dionysus is still in Ikaria today. He is the one who awakens the spirit of life and the desire to dance and enjoy in people!<\/p>\n<\/div>
